About Kidzmet.com
Santa Barbara, CA-based Kidzmet (www.kidzmet.com) was founded in 2010 and is the first website to use personality, innate talents and predominant cognitive style to match teachers, tutors and coaches with the students they were meant to teach. Its service, available in the United States from coast-to-coast, evaluates the connection strength of a teacher with an individual student in order to help parents pair their kids with mentors that instinctively understand how to help each child's seeds of potential blossom.
Easier Extracurricular Planning for Homeschooling Parents
March 22, 2011 - Santa Barbara, CA - Two of the most often cited reasons for homeschooling your children are (a) increased social interaction and group study and (b) so that each child can be given their own set of action plans for their studies and have the freedom pursue advanced knowledge in subjects they are passionate about. But "homeschooling" can actually be seen as a misnomer for the way that nearly 26% of the U.S. population consider educating their kids. Instead of all instruction occurring inside the home, homeschooling parents often tap heavily into community resources and groups to ensure the academic success of their children.
As a result, homeschooling parents are all too familiar with scenarios where their child begs to enroll in a certain extracurricular activity, only to decide two weeks into the session that she can't stand it. So, the parents are left to either (a) write off the money spent on the series of classes or (b) drag the child kicking and screaming to the remaining lessons week after week as her initial interest in the subject dwindles.
Kidzmet.com has developed a platform that homeschooling parents can use to increase their odds of grouping homeschooled kids in activities where they learn from a teacher, coach or tutor that instinctively understands them. (As well as give new teachers, tutors or coaches a better snapshot of the child's learning style, innate strengths and personality type before they engage in their first lesson.) After taking 10 minutes to complete Kidzmet's Pairing Portrait with the child, the site's MentorMatch tool blends personality theory with cognitive and multiple intelligence (MI) theory to identify local tutors, teachers and coaches who are instinctively "tuned in" to each unique child. Because connections are based on more than just subjects and ages taught, Kidzmet can recommend which local experts are most likely to intuitively understand how to help the child's seeds of potential blossom.
And Kidzmet member teachers are better prepared to engage with new students they connect with via Kidzmet after receiving an introductory email with a high level snapshot of the potential student's personality, interests, and learning style when a trial visit coupon has been printed by the family.
Another important benefit that Kidzmet offers homeschooling families is a monthly newsletter that's personalized for each child with tips for exposing the child to the different aspects of the whole child curriculum in a way that celebrates his unique personality type, predominant cognitive style, and innate strengths/talents.
Kidzmet is a free service for families. Teachers pay an annual fee of $50 for a year of MentorMatching if they sign up for a paid listing before June 1, 2011 (typically $100).
